Nostradamus: Hidden gem of Indore

Whenever I think about alcohol in midnight “especially in Indore” the only place comes into my mind is Nostradamas: Fortune Landmark. I don’t want to be biased about it but this is the place where I had my first alcohol drink back in 2010. Nostradamus is one of the oldest upscale bar in Indore, located very next to the Sayaji in the heart of hotel Fortune landmark, Vijay Nagar.
What else is so great about Nostradamus? It is a bar but with really good bar food. I’ve eaten there at least 5 times now (drank there about infinite times) and always been pleased by the food. I’ve had almost everything on the appetizer menu: fries, Kettle Chips, salad, Tikka’s, cheese Fries, Patties Nachos and Kebab’s. Hands down, my all time favorite, is their complimentary cheese-crackers. But you really can’t go wrong with any of the other appetizers, although I wasn’t thrilled with the kebab’s – too much grease and not enough vegetables we have ordered another round of appetizer and in less than 5 minutes later, our Tikka’s came out from the kitchen door, before our beer. And it was cold. I would have preferred my beer to come out quick and cold, not my appetizer. It was tasty and had good flavor it should just have been warmer. And, while I love the tomato sauce, it would be great if the appetizer came with chips so you could use them to eat some of that great sauce.
And the drinks? Great beer selection, various malts, Vodka and lots of wines (both red and white) by the glass. In my last visit I’ve had a couple of their signature drinks but can’t recall their name now – both martinis one was a fruity kind and the other was a mint one. Both were good, although I liked the mint martini better. But mostly, I just stick with beer or their in house special Long Island Ice tea!!!
Service has always been fantastic. On a recent visit, a large group of us met up for drinks and appetizers and our server was great with getting orders out to us and keeping up with everyone’s individual tab. I’ve been in situations where there is a large group, and at the end of the evening it is a headache dividing up the bill. So, kudos to our waiter, for saving us that hassle.
Perhaps it is worth checking out Nostradamus at lunch time as they have a completely different menu, unlike limited options during dinners. So, although some of the offerings were less than stellar, I would still visit Nostradamus again.
